It is a long, rhyming poem that typically consists of a series of themes and sentiments, such as love, sorrow, praise, and social commentary. Qaṣīdas often have a complex structure and feature intricate rhyme and meter patterns. The form has been used by many great poets throughout the Islamic world, and continues to be an important part of Arabic literary traditions. The sheikh Mehmood Bin Abdul Rehman, may God Almighty have mercy on him, is considered one of the prominent scholars of Hama, and one of the famous sheikhs of Syria. He greatly enriched the scientific life in his town, by establishing legal schools, delivering sermons from the pulpit, and teaching legal and linguistic sciences for sixty years. Indeed, his activity extended to include all Syrian governorates. And brotherly Arab countries, so a number of its sons became disciples of him, and he made his life. All of his life serving Islam and Muslims, a working scholar, and an old educator, his peers were few and mighty, until there was unanimity among the scholars on his elevation, the loftiness of his status, and the firmness of his feet. The Shaykh has described the praise of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a very strange way in this qasida, which has been described in a good manner in this article. This qasida of the Sheikh has gained public acceptance and has been accepted by the general and the superior.
Muhammad Mudaser Jamal Copyright (c) 2023 https://ojs.almithaqjournal.com/index.php/Main/article/view/28 Tue, 21 Mar 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Islamic Psychology and the Contribution of Islamic Psychologists in Social Sciences https://ojs.almithaqjournal.com/index.php/Main/article/view/29
Western historians of psychology trace the beginning of the discipline in ancient Greece and then leaping from 3rd century BCE to the 16th Century BC, concentrating only on the period of renaissance and the enlightenment. Ignoring the middle ages in which the actual seeds of the enlightenment were sown. The common belief towards the Islamic scientists is negative and it is believed that the origin and the transmission of knowledge is limited to the Greeks and the West. However, it is also consensually accepted that Muslim intellectuals, scholars and scientists from the 8th, 9th and 13th century made a remarkable progress in the numerous scientific fields including psychology. More than thousand years ago Muslim thinkers and physicians made a seminal contribution to psychology psychotherapy and psychiatry. The restructuring of psychology and other sciences in the Islamic framework entails the identification of the works of Muslim scholars, thinkers and physicians of earlier times which deal with the themes of psychology and psychotherapy. The paper shall focus on the major works of some of the Islamic scientist’s, scholars and the modern Islamic psychologists towards the discipline of psychology. The paper shall also focus on the analysis of original Arabic texts and the resent studies of psychologists. We shall put light on the criticism of western scholars on Islam and Muslims, as the Islamic scientists and scholars made an important advancement in field long before psychology’s actual birth.
Dr Ajaz Ahmad Lone, Assoc.
